In Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), a building inaugurated in 2008, avenue de la République, worries local residents. Two 2-meter boards covering the facade have already come loose, reports Actu Paris. Others were removed as a precaution because they were starting to come loose or were cracked. Result: some homes suffer from humidity due to insulation left in the open air.
“From the beginning, there have been problems […]. But this is another level. I don’t understand how a still relatively new residence, supposed to be ecological, is falling apart like that,” regrets a tenant to our colleagues.
Work in January
The residents contacted the social landlord, Nanterre Coop Habitat, and raised the subject during the neighborhood council. They were waiting for news on the work to be carried out, especially since diagnostics confirmed faulty workmanship on the part of the manufacturer. But as the building is located near the Château de Nanterre, within a historic monument area, authorization for the work was delayed.
These should begin at the beginning of January 2025, with exterior insulation and facade renovation. For its part, the project owner, Bouygues Immobilier, which built the building, assures: “The work was contracted as a general contractor. The work damage guarantee had been activated during the ten-year period. Since 2018, the end of the ten-year guarantee, our after-sales service has not received any request from Nanterre Coop Habitat.”
