An additional TER was added in the Briançon-Gap direction on Sunday late afternoon. Another train will allow it to reach Briançon in the evening also throughout the week.
Rail service is strengthening in the Hautes-Alpes. The announcement was made by the former minister and deputy for the second constituency of Hautes-Alpes, Joël Giraud.
“After finalizing the agreements between Trenitalia and the high-Alpine territory”, concerning the reopening of the lines between Italy and France, “several meetings” took place “to improve connections on the classic Valencia line”, said declared the former mayor of Argentière-la-Bessée.
“They resulted in a reinforced offer since December 15 between Gap and Briançon,” he continued.
An additional Briançon-Gap in the evening
So every day, except Saturday, an additional TER journey is created. It will leave Briançon at 6:21 p.m., pass through Embrun at 7:03 p.m. and reach Gap at 7:38 p.m.
“It will allow the return of workers and schools to this axis. It is also useful on Sunday evenings, for those who want to earn their boarding school in Gap in particular without having to get up at dawn on Monday,” rejoices Joël Giraud .
In the other direction, a train will run every day between Gap (8:52 p.m.), Embrun (9:30 p.m.) and Briançon (10:13 p.m.), connecting the TER Valence TGV (5:47 p.m.) to Gap (8:29 p.m.) from Paris (2:42 p.m.).
“The service which already exists on Fridays and Sundays will therefore be extended to the entire week, allowing 3 daily Paris-Briançon daytime connections in addition to the night train,” concludes the former minister in charge of rurality.
