This Tuesday, December 24, the CCAS of the City of Angers and the Foyer des Jeunes Travailleurs (FJT) David-d’Angers are organizing a solidarity event for isolated people and people in precarious situations.
400 meals for a festive Christmas
The Solidarity Mealwhich is celebrating its fourth edition this year, mobilizes a large-scale organization. Nearly 400 meals will be prepared in the kitchens of the FJT David-d’Angers and distributed throughout the day by agents of the municipal social action center (CCAS).
For people unable to travel, home deliveries will be provided by CCAS teams. Upstream, significant work to identify beneficiaries was carried out in collaboration with the City’s associative partners.
Fight against isolation
Initiated in 2020, the Solidarity Meal aims to offer a moment of conviviality and sharing to those who need it most, in particular people who are isolated and in precarious situations. This gesture of solidarity is part of Angers’ desire to strengthen community ties during the Christmas holidays.
« Offering a festive and warm moment to those who are deprived of it is essential, especially at this time of year,” said a CCAS official.
Entertainment to enhance the day
In parallel with the distribution of meals, Neighborhood houses and local associations will offer activities in the FJT premises. These activities will help create a festive and friendly atmosphere for participants.
A popular initiative
Since its creation, the event has been a great success, both with the beneficiaries and the partners involved. It demonstrates Angers’ commitment to supporting the most vulnerable, while creating opportunities for meetings and exchanges.
