The third row from Toulouse, originally from the Hautes-Pyrénées, came to meet the sports section of this agricultural high school on a Thursday. He spoke with the young people then witnessed opposition between the students.
It started as a joke, one evening at a parent-teacher meeting. “As I have Mathis’ brother in class at the Adriana high school in Tarbes, I asked his parents with a bit of cheek if Mathis could come see us in the sports section”, remembers Olivier Serra, the head of this section which has 43 students and trains on Thursday afternoons.
It was also on a Thursday that, a few months later, the school had the joy of welcoming the third row of Stade Toulouse, originally from Maubourguet in the Hautes-Pyrénées. The U20 world champion took the time to talk with management, teachers but especially young people to talk about his career, professional experience and the requirements of the professional level. After a quick photo, the Toulouse third row attended a meeting between the students of the section. “Mathis even put on the hat of manager of one of the two teams, Harry Dumitras who intervenes by agreement with the CD65 another, while the exempted organized and I arbitrated,” says Olivier Serra.
Mathis was then able to appreciate the talents of Adriana High School, between the reception concocted by the kitchen team and the floral creation created by the students which he received as a present, as well as a mandarin tree. “I would like to warmly thank Mathis for coming to the high school to give stars in the eyes of our young people in the Rugby section, rejoices Olivier Serra. He is available, attentive and has all the qualities of a great champion It was a historic moment for our school and even for me. The students gave their all during the match and saw themselves grow during the match with Mathis on the side.
