Fed up, again and again. Anthony Borré, first deputy to the City, made another rant on his social networks, Wednesday December 18.

Insecurity is on the rise in the districts of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) and the elected official once again invites the State to act. Here, in Old Nice.

“Group of young thugs”

Anthony Borré is not making his first video. The elected official is regularly alerted by traders and local residents of nuisances and increasing violence in several Nice neighborhoods. After Garibaldi and Bon Voyage, it is Vieux Nice that the first deputy is tackling.

“I have been alerted by traders for a few days about a deal point and groups of young thugs,” reports Anthony Borré, recalling that “two national police officers in plain clothes were attacked” a few days ago.

“I asked for determined action”

If he “thanks Justice for having put the three individuals [en cause, NDLR] in pre-trial detention”, he continues to question the State services:

I asked the national police and in particular the State for firm, determined, much stronger action because here, we have cameras and it is not acceptable for restaurateurs and their customers to live in fear.

And to conclude that “we must show firmness because Old Nice, our ‘babazook’, is the lungs of our city”.

Already at the beginning of November, Old Nice was victim of another type of violence, this time generated by an unidentified resident. Meat carcasses, water bottles, bolts: this one had fun throwing anything and everything from his window. Here again, municipal services intervened following complaints from distraught local residents and traders.
