in Old , fed up with drug dealers and nuisances

While an order restricting the sale of alcohol has just been issued in the Place Garibaldi area to curb nuisance, a feeling of insecurity persists elsewhere in the old town. The town hall is demanding “more firmness” from the State.

“I have been alerted for a few days by traders, Place du Palais de Justice, about a deal point and groups of young thugs”. Through a video posted on social networks, the first deputy mayor acts as spokesperson for local residents to the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Hugues Moutouh.

So, “I asked the State for a firm, determined, much stronger reaction. It is not acceptable that restaurateurs and their customers live in fear” denounces Anthony Borré again, in a neighborhood where plainclothes police officers were beaten up a few days ago.

And to conclude:“We must show firmness since Old is the lungs of our city”. Referring to the presence of cameras, the City’s “mister security” also mentioned an intensification of the presence of the municipal police.

The screw already tightened on Garibaldi and the Madeleine

“We have been denouncing the insecurity on Place Garibaldi for months.” Fed up, in Nice-Historique. Earlier in December, the nissart restaurant La Maioun was damaged and broken into. Its manager, Anthony Bastiand, denounced the few night patrols, and the fact that “tensions” of the sector have been denounced for many months by traders.

Monday, December 9, Anthony Borré made an announcement: “With Christian Estrosi, we are issuing an order to prohibit the sale of alcohol in the evening in the area.”

Ten days ago, the City decided on similar restrictions for the district. Drug sales outlets are the other emergency to be dealt with in these neighborhoods, along with people who are wandering and clearly intoxicated, according to the residents with whom we were able to speak.
