The municipal police are equipped with two “cyclodebouts” and a pick-up

It all started from spotting the “cycledebout” on LinkedIn last August. Mayor Yann Galut calls Mustapha Moussali, his deputy for security, and, one thing leading to another, two tricycles find themselves completing the array of municipal police after having positively tested both machines.

These two tricycles represent a new transport tool while the municipal police already have six electric mountain bikes and eight classic mountain bikes.

This “cyclodebout” won the gold medal at the Lépine competition in 2018. It can be ridden without a saddle. Standing allows you to see further. It’s easier than cycling and more stable than a scooter.

Getting started takes just a few minutes

Getting started only lasts a few minutes, the maximum legal speed is 25 km/h with a range of 40 to 45 kilometers. The “cyclodebout” has 20-inch wheels that allow you to overcome obstacles such as potholes, ruts and other slopes.

The turning radius is very short so you can get anywhere. Another advantage is that the agent can stop without dismounting, the bike being stable on its three wheels.

These two “cyclodebout” cost 7,110.60 euros including tax. But the whole thing costs less than 8,000 euros with the equipment added especially for the municipal police.

“As a result, we are the first municipal police force in the Center region to have this type of vehicle,” says Yann Galut, who of course wanted to test the thing. “I’m going to place an order for the mayor’s office,” he announced… before adding that it was a joke.

Another order at the start of the year: a pick-up, which will be used by the eco-guard in charge of environmental protection. This pick-up therefore has a dumpster which will make it possible to deal with illegal dumping. This vehicle cost 35,000 euros.

These two purchases reflect equipment for a municipal police force which acquires a little more each year. “When I arrived at town hall, an audit showed that not only equipment was needed but also training for agents. So, we invested in these two sectors,” indicates Yann Galut.
The municipal police now have eight screen-printed vehicles, two 700 cc motorcycles. During a patrol, one or two agents have an individual camera but others will arrive.

The service will soon launch its software which should be operational in February. Specific to , it will allow you to manage handrails and write reports with immediate transcription.

Still 300 cameras planned for Bourges 2028

Smartphones which allow verbalization will also be changed by the installation of this software as well as radios. Municipal police officers, equipped with firearms since 2018, will change equipment with Glock brand semi-automatics. “Our priority is to protect people but also for the municipal police to protect themselves,” the mayor further emphasizes. In terms of video protection, with around ten additional cameras each year, the total is now 215 cameras. “We want, as announced, 300 cameras for Bourges 2028,” he continues.
