Ourossogui, Dec 18 (APS) – The commune of Ourossogui (north) invested 250 million CFA francs in paving, public lighting, construction of a nursery school and electrification, thanks to the Community Support Program. communes and agglomerations of Senegal (PACASEN), we learned from its municipal secretary, Souleymane Thiam, on Wednesday.

”In the commune of Ourossogui, we benefited from more than 250 million CFA francs, which were invested in the areas of education, public lighting, the extension of the water distribution network and electricity. We also redeveloped the town hall by building a deliberation room there,” he said.

Mr. Thiam was speaking at an information and communication tour of the Municipal Development Agency (ADM), which coordinates the activities of PACASEN.

The Ourossogui municipal council has also started construction work on a preschool school and created a public square.

According to Souleymane Thiam, the paving of the city’s streets and the improvement of the living environment are part of the initiatives carried out by PACASEN in Ourossogui.

El Hadji Alassane Diallo, head of the ADM communications unit, explains that one of the missions of this program is to help “empower municipalities” by training their agents in the rules of transparency and good governance.

”We also want to instill in municipalities a culture of performance, transparency and good governance,” he explained.

With PACASEN, ”we will have strong and dynamic municipalities, which will properly accomplish their missions,” assured El Hadji Alassane Diallo.

According to him, the chosen municipalities have all invested in sectors with a strong social impact, such as education, health, market facilities, sports infrastructure and road works.

PACASEN concerns 124 Senegalese municipalities, including seven in the Matam region: Thilogne, Ourossogui, Matam, Kanel, Semmé, Ranérou and Waoundé.
