“Fully operational”: still plan for delays until 2025, announces Canada Post

Canada Post reports that Canadians are starting to receive their mail after weeks of strike.

The situation has not yet been resolved. According to the state-owned company, citizens should expect delivery delays for “the remainder of 2024 and into January 2025.”

Given the vast scale of the integrated network of processing facilities, letter carriers and post offices, stabilizing operations will take time. Delivery delays should be expected for the remainder of 2024 and into January 2025.

“Further developments will be communicated on canadapost.ca,” Canada Post said in a press release. “We thank Canadians for their patience while we stabilize our operations while ensuring the safety of our personnel.”

In an interview with Noovo Info, spokesperson for Canada Post, Valérie Chartrand, explains that items that were sent as a priority will be processed first.

Other packages and letters will be processed according to the “first in, first out” rule.

“We will process and deliver the volumes as quickly as possible, but also it is a pan-Canadian network,” adds Ms. Chartrand.

A service outage of a few days generally takes the same number of days to make up. And the breakdown in service at Canada Post lasted almost a month.
