Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon while they were patiently waiting for their order at the drive-thru of the Tim Hortons restaurant in New Richmond, Gaspésie.
The arrest of Réjean Couturier, 49, is linked to an armed attack that occurred last November in Port-Daniel-Gascons.
The second person arrested during the operation by police officers from the Major Crimes Division of the Sûreté du Québec is Jessica Forest, a 39-year-old woman.
The officers then went to a property on rue des Cèdres, in New Richmond, to carry out a search.
Three firearms, high-capacity magazines and several prohibited weapons were confiscated.
In addition, authorities seized approximately 500 methamphetamine pills, illicit tobacco and equipment used for resale.
The forty-year-old appeared on Wednesday for discharging a prohibited firearm, breaking and entering into a private residence, possessing prohibited firearms without holding a license, and disguising himself with a balaclava. with intent to commit a criminal act and breach of condition.
Charges related to drug trafficking were also brought.
Réjean Couturier remains detained pending his next appearance in court on December 19.
The woman, who faces charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons, was released pending further proceedings.
