There were fewer candidates than last year, but the fervor and the desire to win the title were the same! On Saturday December 14, 2024, in Moulineaux (Seine-Maritime), 15 people competed for the very prestigious competition for the most beautiful ugly sweater.

At the end of the day, they were all impatient to know the result, in outfits that rivaled each other in creativity and taste.

After the jury’s deliberation, it was ultimately Mathieu, a 35-year-old resident of the town, who won among the adults thanks to a blue sweater which combines Christmas symbols such as snowflakes and characters from the famous video games Mario Kart.

“I just turned 35 and a few friends and I signed up to have fun before celebrating my birthday,” explains the winner. But be careful: birthday or not, Mathieu assures that he did not benefit from any help, because “the jury was not aware of this birthday”.

At the same time, among the children, it was Maellys, 9 years old, who carried the victory tree.

Two days of Christmas market

This competition was one of the highlights of a weekend marked by end of year celebrations. On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December 2024, artisans and associations were present in the village hall for the Christmas market.

Although there were still a few days before the gifts could be opened, a large audience came to make purchases that are not found everywhere. “This is the originality of Christmas markets. What we find is out of the ordinary, it’s purely artisanal, which is what makes it so charming,” confided a couple, with a few packages in their arms.

On Sunday, the market continued with the presence of Santa Claus.
