Morocco and Saudi Arabia sign a memorandum of understanding for the digital transition

On December 16, 2024, in Riyadh, Morocco and Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening their cooperation in the field of government digital transition. The Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and the Saudi Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, initialed this agreement on the sidelines of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, taking place in Riyadh from December 15 to 19, 2024.

This strategic partnership plans to strengthen coordination between the two countries, support research and innovation, promote the adoption of new technologies in the field of E-government, and share best practices in digital transformation. Particular emphasis will be placed on artificial intelligence and the optimization of E-government services.

The discussions also touched on cooperation on digital infrastructure, particularly in view of the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cups that the two nations will host. It was emphasized that cutting-edge technologies should be used to provide an exceptional experience to visitors while preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the two countries.

The Internet Governance Forum, which brings together international experts, is an opportunity for Morocco and Saudi Arabia to exchange know-how and experiences in a global context in full digital evolution.
