Will tensions finally ease in Gletterens?

Will Gletterens, in Broye, finally regain its serenity? This Tuesday, the three administrators appointed to take over its management presented the budget during an information session.

The municipality has been under supervision since last summer, after major tensions between the Municipal Council and part of the population. Citizens rejected the budget five times in a year and a half, during very agitated assemblies.

This Tuesday, everything went peacefully, or at least apparently. Because the climate of recent months and the placement under supervision have left their mark on the village.

Among the 150 people present, some found it difficult to act as if nothing had happened. “By removing the trust placed in our elected officials to complete their mandate, we have relied on democracy,” said a citizen. “You’ll have to be inspired to put the pieces back together, because it’s gone in all directions,” adds another.

Willy Schorderet is one of the three appointed directors. For him, the reaction of citizens is perfectly normal. Now, to avoid the mistakes of the past, the most important thing is to listen. “People need to be able to bring out what is in their guts,” explains the former prefect of La Glâne.

Despite everything, the budget presentation took place calmly. The latter forecasts a deficit for 2025, in particular because of the renovation of the Volg store, which costs 400,000 francs. Taxes, for their part, will not increase. The next step will be the presentation of the accounts to the population, with no date announced for the moment. The administrators hope that everything will be resolved in Gletterens by 2026, the year of the municipal elections.
