Kaolack, Dec 18 (APS) – The National Alliance of Communities for Health (ANCS) intends to work to improve the provision of community health services for vulnerable populations in the Kaolack region (center), indicated its technical director, Massogui Thiandoum.
”Given the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Social Action and the Kaolack medical region, we wanted to start this tour here to be able, together, to outline our orientations but also to work in the direction of improvement of our service offering which is community-based, very innovative and adapted to the specific needs of vulnerable populations in the region,” he said.
Mr. Thiandoum spoke on Tuesday as part of a national advocacy tour that the ANCS organizes each year to meet health authorities, take stock of its interventions and gather information and guidance for planning for the year. future.
According to him, the ANCS wants its health service offering in terms of prevention, treatment, care and psychosocial support to be accessible to all communities.
”We have, in this advocacy, an important aspect of promoting the right of access to health for communities and populations. Because we thought that it is important, in the context of Senegal, to ensure that all populations, regardless of their ages, genders or religions, can access health in an equitable manner. ‘, he argued.
He believes that there are many challenges to be faced regarding the violation of the rights of certain categories of people, based on gender, particularly among women, but also young people and children.
”We have led a plea to the authorities, so that these categories of the population can access health without difficulty and that the stigma and discrimination, of which they are often victims, are completely eradicated in our health structures”, supported the technical director of the ANCS.
For his part, Doctor Kiné Ndiaye, serving at the General Directorate of Health, assured that the ANCS is a “strategic partner” of the Ministry of Health and Social Action, particularly in the context of promotion of the good health of the population.
”In addition to community support activities, the ANCS works on human rights advocacy for the provision of services to the entire population, without any form of stigma and discrimination,” underlined Dr Ndiaye.
She emphasizes that this is part of the vision of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who makes this promotion of good health a “flagship axis” of the “Senegal 2050” agenda.
”We started (this tour) in Kaolack because it is a key region in the fight for good health of the population, particularly against HIV but also against hepatitis and tuberculosis,” explained Dr Kiné Ndiaye .
In this fight, she maintains that, by 2030, Kaolack occupies a “strategic position” in terms of its results.
In partnership with the ANCS, the Ministry of Health and Social Action has set up a community clinic. ”Which is a very innovative strategy. Today, we wanted to show that the ministry supports the ANCS because there is leadership and political support,” she said.
