While waiting for the departure of Antoine Kombouaré, the management of FC Nantes is working to find a replacement for him. Several avenues are mentioned, but the one that leads to Habib Beye is gaining momentum.
For the third year in a row, FC Nantes is playing its season on a tightrope. Not far from relegation in 2022-2023, then in 2023-2024, Waldemar Kita’s club falls back into its failings again despite a promising start to the year. The return of Antoine Kombouaré last March did not particularly please the supporters. A few months later, it is clear that they were right. If the Kanak technician still occupies the position of coach with the Canaries, his situation is more than precarious. Close to being fired, he must above all wait for his club to find a replacement for him. Various names have already appeared in the press, such as that of Sergio Conceiçao who comes up insistently. But today, it is Habib Beye who would hold the rope.
Habib Beye in Nantes for a first in L1?
A few weeks ago, we learned that Waldemar Kita was working behind the scenes to allow the return of Sergio Conceiçao to Nantes. However, things are still not moving forward. Enough to leave room for new avenues. According to L’Equipe, the Portuguese coach remains Kita’s priority but the former Porto player has not yet given certainty about his future. The Habib Beye file is therefore being explored in parallel by the Nantes management. The ex-Red Star coach, without a club since the end of last season, wants experience in Ligue 1 at all costs. The French sports daily even goes so far as to affirm that the native of Suresnes is up for the challenge of keep Nantes in the elite.
By leaving the Ile-de-France club that he managed to bring up to Ligue 2 last season, Habib Beye planned to take a step forward by signing up with a Ligue 1 team. But no door was actually opened to him during of the summer off-season. With FC Nantes, this time may be the right one.
