Dakar, Dec 18 (APS) – The interior of Real Madrid (Spanish elite), Eli John Ndiaye Faye, does not rule out defending the colors of Senegal, despite the fact that he played with Spain in the small categories.
»For now, I’m playing with Spain. We’ll see, life can change at any time. We are here,” he said in an interview with Radio France Internationale (RFI).
The Senegalese interior and its club, Real, beat Paris (96-85) on Tuesday evening, in a match counting for the 16th day of the Euroleague regular season.
»We’ll see this summer. I wanted to play for Senegal. I was not called up for the World Cups and the African Cup. Spain called me for the World Cup (…). My family helped me by telling me: ‘Go ahead, make your choice’,” explained the native of Guédiawaye, in the Dakar suburbs.
Arriving in Spain in 2020, the young player trained in Thiès established himself to the point of wearing the Spanish youth team jersey.
Eli John Ndiaye Faye has already played more than 115 matches with the Real first team.
He won two leagues, a EuroLeague, a cup and three Super Cups. Previously, he was EuroLeague junior champion and best player.
»This year I am finishing my contract with Real Madrid. I’ve been playing here for three years, I’ve played in two final fours. We won one and lost the other. Every year I get better,” he said.
