Friday December 13, at its premises in Quimper, the Finistère Food Bank organized a reception to thank the volunteers who participated in the national collection on November 22, 23 and 24. The opportunity to salute the commitment of the numerous volunteers, but also to draw up an encouraging assessment of this solidarity operation.
Pierre Buzaré, president of the association, announced the key figures for this collection: nearly 200 tonnes of food and hygiene products were collected across Finistère. “The large number of volunteers is a real satisfaction, with 700 people mobilized in the Brest metropolitan area and more than 400 in Quimper,” he underlined.
A crowd of mobilized actors
This success was also made possible thanks to the mobilization of local businesses and partners. GrDF, for example, offered vests and equipment worth €1,741 for volunteers, in addition to organizing an internal collection on several Breton sites. Companies such as Marie à Briec, SNCF, Adecco and Amazon also contributed by providing employees or logistical means, such as the loan of trucks with drivers to transport donations.
Other actors were actively involved, such as the scouts, the Petits Bouchons group, the Duo Day participants, and the students from the Sainte-Thérèse high school. A notable donation was that of the Saupiquet company, currently in cessation of activity, which offered 12 tonnes of canned sardines, mackerel and tuna. The actors welcomed a great demonstration of collective mobilization, which reminds us that every gesture counts to help those who need it.
