A 20-year-old young man shot dead in Aix-en-Provence amid drug trafficking

A 20-year-old young man was shot and killed at the Bellevue residence, near Avenue Philippe-Solari, on the evening of Tuesday, December 17, shortly before midnight. Once on site, emergency services were unable to resuscitate the victim, who was known to the justice services.

According to initial information, this case is linked to drug trafficking. Two groups of individuals arranged to meet as part of a drug trade, indicates the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor’s office. But once there, things deteriorated when one of the groups, in a Renault car, arrived armed and with masked faces. After threatening the occupants of the other car, an Opel Corsa, shots were fired.

Fatal shooting linked to drug trafficking

Two people were injured and the third died following a gunshot to the neck. The attackers then stole the victims’ vehicle and fled.

Two 9 mm caliber shell casings were found by the police. The investigation is being carried out by the DCOS, organized and specialized crime division.

The mayor of Aix-en-Provence, Sophie Joissains, reacted this morning. “It’s a disaster. We see that there is endemic violence among young people and drug traffickers. We are working on it with the national police. Aix is ​​a quiet city and we will make sure it stays that way.
