Many of our compatriots in Italy are more distinguished by acts of delinquency than by the search for a decent livelihood, reports The Echoes. Indeed, a new incident involving a Senegalese has made the news in Italy. A 27-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to kill a police officer.
The events occurred the day before yesterday, in the town of Lecce, around 6 p.m., when the officer on duty at the local police station was approached by the Senegalese suspect. As reported The Echoesthe police seem once again to be the target of some of our compatriots in Italy. According to initial information, the attacker, already known to the police, first made verbal threats against the police officer, using threatening language.

Despite repeated orders from the officer to move away, the suspect refused to comply. The situation quickly escalated: when the policeman tried to move away, the Senegalese grabbed him by the neck, sparking a fight. According to the story reported by The Echoesthe police officer fortunately managed to free himself from the attacker’s grip before immobilizing him, while the support patrol arrived on the scene to make the arrest.
The attacker is now in pre-trial detention, charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery. The police officer, seriously injured during the incident, was taken to hospital. The Echoes specifies that the police officer’s injuries were caused by a chain, which he was carrying on him and which the suspect used to try to strangle him. A medical certificate was issued to him, attesting to his incapacity for work for 10 days.
