Saint-Quentin-en- – Return to normal train circulation on line N

Line N of the Transilien, frequented by thousands of travelers daily, connects different municipalities in the SQY conurbation – seven in total: Montigny, , La Verrière, Coignières, Villepreux, Les Clayes and – to . For several years, this Transilien line has been putting users’ nerves to the test, particularly because of delays or cancellations of trains. However, the situation has improved.

In his Facebook live on December 5, Jean-Baptiste Hamonic, MoDem mayor of Villepreux and vice-president of SQY responsible for transport and sustainable mobility, announced good news for users of this line. “I would like to share some happy news with you. After a four-year long mobilization, both from parliamentarians, from Saint-Quentin-en-, from the commune of Villepreux and from all the elected representatives of the municipal council (majority as well as opposition), we managed to find the offer nominal, that is to say the normal pre-Covid offer on line N of the Transilien, which connects Paris to Villepreux via Montparnasse station,” he began.

Concretely, this means that since December 15, the frequency of a train every half hour has been continuously found, not only during peak hours, but also during off-peak hours. “It’s a fight that we’ve been waging for a while but that’s it, it’s done. SNCF and Île-de- Mobilités were able to make progress on this subject. So from December 15, we will have our trains, to the delight of all those who travel by public transport,” rejoiced the elected official, before recalling why it took so long.

A train every 30 minutes

“I would like to remind you why it was complicated. It was complicated due to a shortage of train drivers and therefore SNCF Transilien had effectively committed to ensuring that by the end of the year we would have a return to normal supply. It took them a year overall to train drivers and ensure that they were then redeployed on the different Transilien lines. So it’s a good thing to do, we are moving forward slowly on this new pre-Covid offer,” concluded Jean-Baptiste Hamonic.
