December 15, 2024 was not only marked by the launch of Paris-Berlin in ICE 3. This Monday also saw the return of the direct rail link between Nancy and Lyon six years after his suspension in 2018, notably due to the work carried out in the Lyon Part-Dieu station. Highly awaited by the inhabitants and businesses of the Grand Est as well as the Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, this resumption of a territorial balance train (TET) was made possible thanks to a financial effort of 48 .6M€ for the period 2025-2028 of the State and several local authorities, the Greater Nancy Metropolis and the Grand Est region, as well as the departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Vosges. The State will then resume all of its funding from 2029.
Operated until 2027 by Régiolis train at a rate ofa daily round trip between Nancy and Lyon in approximately 4h30. Scheduled at 7:46 a.m. from Nancy, the connection serves Toul, Neufchâteau, Culmont-Chalindrey, Dijon-Ville, Chalon-sur-Saône, Mâcon, Lyon-Part-Dieu and Lyon-Perrache. A second round trip is already planned during the day from the end of 2025. A Corail train will also take over from the Régiolis train from 2028.
During this period 2025-2028, following an agreement between the State and the Grand Est Region, TER Grand Est subscribers will be able to use this service between Nancy and Culmont-Chalindrey with their TER Fluo subscription.
