In just a few minutes, the tickets were all gone. From the first round, the Brest supporters were knocked out, stunned by the madness surrounding the last Champions League match (before the play-offs), the one between the Ti-Zefs and Real Madrid. On January 29, 2025, the Roudourou stadium, in Guingamp (22), will be full as an egg since the places were gone in record time, on Monday December 16, 2024. So much so that the ticket office for the general public, which would have was to take place this Wednesday, December 18, will not even be open! And that many subscribers, priority during the first sales phase, also found themselves with their mouths in water.
Monster frustration
On social networks, many subscribed supporters nevertheless expressed their annoyance at not having been able to get their hands on the precious sesame. “There were, by the looks of it, no more than 50 seats available in the East stand, and it was 1:01 p.m.,” says a supporter. The opening of the online ticket office had however been set for… 1 p.m.
The fervor around this meeting is nevertheless not a surprise given the opponent. Brest-Real Madrid, it’s difficult to imagine a better poster for this eighth match of the League phase. “We are obviously aware that demand exceeds supply,” assures the club. Which reminds us that the ticketing system has nevertheless been the same since the start of the competition: “Private subscribers, numbering 8,200, have priority in purchasing two places for their family and friends. If there are still places left, they are put on sale to the general public. Which was not the case this Monday.
Fewer places available
No wonder there. In addition to the exceptional demand – according to our information, the club’s ticket office recorded a peak of more than ten thousand connections – the quota of places usually available was first reduced due to the media system being more important than for other meetings. The pool of 1,000 places allocated to UEFA should also not be put back into the common pot, even though they had not been used in full during the three previous meetings.
Furthermore, if some have incriminated the partners, suspected of having siphoned off the places before the subscribers, the club makes it clear that the maximum quota of VIP partner subscribers was reached from the first match. And there is no more for the match against Real Madrid. However, according to our information, if a company purchases more seats for a meeting, these fall into the category of general public seats. “At the same time, if a company does this, it is for Brest employees of their company,” we are told. Enough to relaunch the debate around the location of the Champions League play-off match?
