A teacher at the Rose Val Plan primary school, located in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille, was attacked late Monday afternoon, reports Le Figaro. The facts follow a dispute that arose in class between the teacher and his 10-year-old student. The child reportedly reported the incident to his mother after class, identifying her in front of the establishment. She then slapped the teacher before uttering threats, then leaving the premises with her daughter.
The professor filed a complaint for “violence” and “threats against a person responsible for a public service mission”, indicates the daily. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Bouches-du-Rhône interdepartmental judicial police service (SIPJ 13).
Firm condemnation of the rectorate
The rectorate of the Aix-Marseille academy strongly condemned this attack and assured to provide psychological and legal support to the teacher. “The academic director was able to communicate with the teacher in order to support him through this ordeal, he benefits from all the necessary support, both psychologically and legally,” specifies the rectorate on a daily basis.
This new incident comes in a context of growing tensions in the school environment. Last November, a public high school teacher received death threats via a Snapchat group created by students. Three of them were identified, brought to justice and banned from returning to their establishment.
