Diass, Dec 17 (APS) – The Director General of Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) Cheikh Mamadou Habiboulaye Dièye and Brigadier General Mamadou Ndoye, Commander of the National Fire Brigade (BNSP) initialed, Tuesday, a partnership agreement for strengthening security in Senegal’s airports, noted the APS.
The signing ceremony of this memorandum of understanding took place within the premises of the general management of the AIBD in Diass (West).
“This protocol will allow us, thanks to permanent contact, to ensure the rapid and efficient distribution of relief and rescue, in the event of an accident or disaster involving an aircraft inside or outside airports, in especially regional ones,” said Brigadier General Mamadou Ndoye, Commander of the BNSP.
“The national fire brigade has proven experience in fighting all forms of fire, organizational capacity of personnel, mobilization, speed of intervention,” noted, in turn, the director general of the AIBD, Cheikh Mamadou Habiboulaye Dièye.
“An airport means security and safety. And this contributes to securing our aerodromes, to the security and safety of our aerodromes, to ensure the Senegalese people have a quality of resilience and above all an optimized level of security,” recalled Mr. Dièye.
The Brigadier General reassured that “the BNSP is developing specialized airport rescue capabilities”.
“Today, we have ten Falcon 6 vehicles for rescue and combating aircraft fires, but also usable during large fires in oil depots or warehouses, with very effective cannon launchers.” , he reassured, emphasizing that “the firefighters are equipped with new capabilities which will make it possible to curb aircraft accidents and disasters”.
