Five times more Americans
If you walked the streets of Lille during this period in particular, you noticed the presence of foreigners… who we rarely see. And the figures confirm it. INSEE announces a five-fold increase in hotel occupancy for American tourists between August 2023 and August 2024. The number of nights of German touristshas also increased significantly, with: + 39% recorded in hotels and + 62% in campsites.
In short, as the INSEE title in its report, it was an “Olympic August” for hoteliers. Particularly those in the Lille metropolis, which were already showing good occupancy in July. This after the 2023 Rugby World Cup and before the Tour de France which opens in Lille in 2025. A great time for accommodation in the sector, there is no doubt!
