Chile determined to strengthen its relations with Morocco (Head of Chilean diplomacy)

Morocco and Chile share the same vision regarding the importance of science, technology and innovation to respond effectively to the various global challenges, “which directly affect our societies and whose solution is collective”, underlined the head of Chilean diplomacy at the opening of the Congress of the Future (December 17-18), organized jointly by the two Chambers of the Moroccan Parliament.

Science diplomacy and conferences such as the Future Congress, which is held in collaboration with the Future Meetings Foundation, the Chilean Chamber of Deputies and Senate, “offer unique opportunities to jointly address challenges that are priorities for our countries, such as climate change, energy transition, sustainable trade and development cooperation,” noted Mr. van Klaveren.

This event also reflects the desire of the two countries to strengthen their ties, which date back more than six decades, and their common commitment to knowledge and innovation, he added.

In a highly interconnected world, the future and well-being of people depend on global and collective solutions to address these challenges, the Chilean official continued, noting that topics such as artificial intelligence, gender equality, health, the preservation of water resources and food security will determine the future of societies.

The Future Congress, which is being held for the first time in the Kingdom, has set four technological revolutions as the starting point for its debates, namely artificial intelligence, genetic modification, nanotechnology and quantum computing. , said the minister, explaining that these are cutting-edge areas which are “essential for our scientific diplomacy and our development and which require a strategic approach to our policy at the national and international levels”.

For his part, the vice-president of the Chilean Senate, Matias Walker, noted that Morocco and Chile can make an important contribution to the determinants of peace and development in the world within the framework of the new world order.

For her part, the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, Karol Cariola, indicated that since its creation, the Congress of the Future has made it possible to exchange ideas on global development and innovation and to highlight “our needs in this area”, adding that this event constitutes a laboratory “unique of its kind”, insofar as it brings together experts from different backgrounds to create collaborative intelligence.

The President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Pacheco, for his part, praised Morocco’s role as an important ally on the African continent, highlighting the progress made by the Kingdom in recent decades under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty. King Mohammed VI.

The Founder of the Congress of the Future and vice-president of the Encounters of the Future Foundation of the Republic of Chile, Guido Girardi, highlighted the potential of Africa, and in particular of Morocco, to contribute to development on a global scale. world, citing in this regard a number of assets such as mineral, maritime and energy resources, which require, according to him, greater international cooperation.
