The city center of Aubagne is currently in the middle of construction with the deployment of the tramway with the val-tram line which will go to La Bouilladisse and which crosses the heart of the city. It is precisely there, in place of the old Cours Voltaire locker, that the new tourist office will be installed.
It is a strategic location in several terms: Ideally located in the center of the town of Aubagne, in its heart where the market is located, but also just a few meters from a tram stop which will serve the communes of the tourist office and also a few hundred meters from the station.
A modern glass and ceramic building
With a total surface area of 458m², it will be a modern building, with large bay windows, ceramic strapping to highlight local know-how.
It is of course also an intelligently thought-out ecological project. If it will welcome light, with its glass facades, shade and vegetation arrangements will help limit the impact of heat in summer.
The building will be built on two floors. It is on the ground floor that the public will be welcomed, with two original spaces: 50m² will be dedicated to a shop highlighting local artisans and producers, and another 50m² space will accommodate temporary exhibitions. The first floor will be dedicated to offices.
A project in line with those of the tramway
« LThe work will start as soon as we have the space to do it » explains Gérard Canavese, the president of the Tourist Office. However, the first groundbreaking is not expected before October 2025. If the financing of €1,840,000 including tax is approved, the studies and the building permit must still be validated. But above all, you have to be synchronized with the tram work next door. They are progressing well, since the rails are starting to be installed.
The opening of the new Tourist Office is expected at the end of 2026.
