“From the start of the 2025 school year, a third year of Bachelor will be open to students with a bac +2”, specifies Pascal Agostini. Recruitment of students will be done “on file, with tests and admission interviews”, and the director of the Corsican Chamber of Commerce and Industry hopes to have “around a hundred students in the first promotion.” Important point of this training: the possibility of doing a work-study program within local companies during the course. “We are in the process of developing our professional network. We already have contacts with the Cercle des Grandes Maisons Corses, and we will soon have a meeting with the Union of Hotel Trades and Industries. We hope to be able to collaborate with many local companies, so that our students can discover the professional world in the best conditions.”
The objective of the School of Tourism, Events and Hospitality is to develop the hotel and catering professions on the island, but also to “to structure a sector which did not yet have a dedicated place”. “Corsican students could study the hotel and catering industry in Apprentice Training Centers, but these were multidisciplinary centers, where many professions were mixed. Here, and this was part of our roadmap, we are going to create a “vessel”, with a sector of excellence, to continue to develop these professions in our region, in the years to come.” An ambitious idea on an island where tourism represents nearly 39% of GDP according to an INSEE study in 2021, a real pillar of its economy, but where local professionals are sometimes missing.
