Work is progressing well for the Havre-Saint-Pierre Seniors’ Center and the new building should be completed in the fall of 2025.
Since this summer, a new contractor has taken over the site. This is LFG Construction.
The construction of the infrastructure encountered several problems and delays which forced a change of general contractor.
Over the last few months, the site was taken over, the materials inventory was taken and the bricks and insulating wool were removed.
Among the work currently underway is the installation of temporary protection against bad weather. It will cover the entire building for the continuation of work in winter conditions. Selective demolition of certain elements of the building is also underway.
“The corrective work continues, through the mandated contractor…and the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI) will continue to report on their progress during the winter. She closely monitors the progress of this work and is present on the site to ensure its proper conduct,” states the SQI in a press release.
Delivery of the Havre-Saint-Pierre Seniors’ Home is still scheduled for fall 2025. The construction budget is maintained at $56 million.
