Many students were still in front of the school at 11 a.m., shocked by the alert of which the teachers were unaware. Students have already been able to resume classes from 11 a.m. “We were very scared, our teachers didn't know and we had to get under the tables, we were told that it wasn't an exercise,” says a student. “Normally, this alert lasts 20 minutes. “During the morning of December 11, the school received threats which led to the intrusion alert plan being triggered. The intervention of the police quickly cleared up any doubts and classes then resumed. The school will file a complaint against this false alarm. A listening cell has been set up for students and staff,” communicated the Metz-Nancy academy. An investigation is open.
A message sent on Pronote, a site which allows teachers to communicate with parents, told families not to go near the establishment. The alert was then lifted and parents reassured, again via the website. In front of the school, a frightened grandmother was in tears. “It’s my grandson who goes to the Communication high school, his mother is 50 km from here so I came, I was very scared,” she sniffs. The Metz police intervention section intervened and the soldiers of Operation Sentinel were also on site, with information of an armed person within the high school. “We could hear the police shouting in the corridors, it scared us,” continues a student.

The police quickly searched the establishment and found nothing. The high school students were able to leave their classrooms and reassure their loved ones after an hour of waiting. “Usually this kind of exercise lasts 20 minutes. There, we were immediately told that it was not an exercise. That’s why we were afraid,” the students continue. In class groups, electronic messages and videos from outside were circulating. In particular videos of police and military personnel. “It scared us to see the whole thing on our phones while we were inside,” adds a young girl.
