After “quite rich and sustained debates in committee”, according to Xavier Talois, finance assistant, the elected officials of the City of Mayenne have validated the increase in several rates, from 1is January 2025, during the municipal council meeting on Thursday November 28, 2024.
The increase was set at 3% “because we are generally at the level of inflation, even if it is declining”, noted Xavier Talois. Annual inflation stood at +4.9% in 2023, after +5.2% in 2022 and +1.6% in 2021, according to INSEE.
The crematorium, the exception
From January 2025, the fixed price for a first intervention for stray animals will amount to €59, instead of €57. Other rates are concerned: renewal of a cemetery concession; intervention of technical services; rental of the Brossolette family house; occupation of sidewalks (terraces); rental of allotment gardens; etc.
“It seems more relevant to us to increase them gradually and regularly rather than having to increase them abruptly and suddenly,” justified Xavier Talois. There is “an exception to the rule” : crematorium prices “remain unchanged because the financial results are favorable and we take into account the comments of the regional chamber of accounts”.
