Operation Tranquility Holidays
As the end-of-year holidays approach and in order to prevent possible burglaries, the police and gendarmerie services are offering Gers residents to watch over their accommodation during their absence for the holidays and to warn them in the event of an anomaly thanks to At free device Operation Holiday Tranquility (OTV).
This service allows residents during their prolonged absences to request surveillance of their home. Registration for OTV thus makes it possible to organize police or gendarmerie patrols, day and night, in order to fight against burglaries.
The police and gendarmerie ensure regular visits to your address in order to:
- Check the absence of break-in or intrusion
- Deter ill-intentioned individuals
Following your registration to the system, patrols are organized day and night. The exterior of your home is inspected. If an anomaly is noted, you will be contacted.
This year, 912 requests have already been made to the police and gendarmerie services.

Prevention actions
The Gers National Police carried out this year, with the assistance of the DCPP (Police Population Cohesion Delegate), several “Operation Tranquility Seniors” prevention sessions. In the gendarmerie zone, meetings are regularly organized with municipalities or associations and Operation Tranquility Holidays is discussed during these.
How to limit the risk of burglary?
- Home protection
- Equip the door with a reliable closing system,
- Install suitable and approved equipment (shutters, grilles, alarm/protection, etc.),
- Do not leave a ladder, scaffolding, tools, etc. in the garden.
- Do not write the name and home address on the set of keys,
- Do not leave keys under the doormat or in the mailbox.
- Protection of assets
- Do not leave money in your home,
- Put your jewelry, art and valuables in a safe place. List and photograph them.
- In case of prolonged absence
- Do not report your absence on social networks,
- Forward your mail,
- Ask a neighbor to come by regularly to open and close the windows.
