It is a busy road along the Loire-Atlantique coast, crossing a village in Guérande to reach La Turballe and Piriac-sur-Mer.
So much so that a diversion was planned to protect local residents.
The bypass of the village of Clis was finally abandoned by the Loire-Atlantique departmental council.
Anger of the mayor and residents
A decision which aroused the anger of the mayor of Guérande and the inhabitants of Clis who have for years denounced the safety problems on this departmental road where cars, trucks and camper vans circulate, with a peak during the summer period.
After multiple discussions with the departmental council, security arrangements are planned in a few months.
A project on 2 km of water network pipes
But before the launch of this work to secure the village, a major project will begin on January 6, 2025 and last until June 2025. This involves improvement and rehabilitation work on more than 2 km of pipes drinking and rainwater networks (some are 60 years old) in Clis, on departmental road 99 which crosses the village. Cost of the operation, more than €1.5 million, financed by the La Baule / Guérande CapAtlantique agglomeration.
The road closed and diverted
During these 5 months, the road section serving Guérande in one direction, La Turballe and Piriac-sur-Mer in the other, will be closed.
A detour will make a Clis-Guérande-Brézéan-La Turballe-Clis loop using the RD 252 and the RD 33 (La Turballe-Saint-Molf road).
For heavy vehicles, the detour will take the RD 74, the D 48 up to Saint-Molf and the RD 33.
Accessible to local residents
The road crossing the village of Clis will only be accessible to local residents “as long as security conditions allow it via a restricted access system which will be directly specified to them”, indicates CapAtlantique.
School transport maintained
School transport will be maintained. No school stop will be postponed or not served, buses passing outside construction hours. But regular lines will be diverted. The families concerned will receive specific information from the transport department of cap-atlantique.fr
Household waste collection will be provided under the usual conditions.
