On Monday, December 16, 2024, the first Territorial Conference of the National Advisory Council for People with Disabilities will be held, co-organized by the Landes Departmental Council and the CNCPH. This event, accessible to all thanks to simultaneous transcription, will be an opportunity to discuss disability issues.

This is the first Territorial Conference of the National Consultative Council of Persons with Disabilities (CNCPH). Co-organized by the Landes Departmental Council and the CNCPH, this event will be accessible to all thanks to simultaneous transcription and interpretation in French Sign Language. It will be an opportunity, specify the organizers, to discuss disability issues, with a particular focus on young people and the legacy of the Paralympic Games.

On the program, a conference which should last from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and begin with introductory remarks from Xavier Fortinon, president of the Landes Departmental Council, as well as Jérémie Boroy, president of the CNCPH, who will lay the foundations for the discussions. The first sequence will follow, entitled “Make way for young people: their commitments and expectations”which will give a voice to Landes students, including young people with disabilities, about their experiences and aspirations.

The impact of the Paralympic Games on the territory

The second sequence, “ Landes, Terre de JeuXL: what is the legacy of the Paralympic Games? »will bring together Landes para-athletes such as Perle Bouge (rowing) and Assya Maurin-Espiau (swimming), as well as other practitioners with disabilities. “This discussion will focus on the impact of the Paralympic Games on the territory and the opportunities created for people with disabilities in sport and beyond,” specify the organizers. Finally, the conference will conclude with a third sequence entitled “2025, the Landes are still committed”where future perspectives for strengthening inclusion in the department will be discussed. Concluding remarks will be made by Jérémie Boroy, Xavier Fortinon, and Françoise Tahéri, prefect of Landes.
