On December 4, 2024, the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Republican Security Companies was held at the Joël Le Goff barracks of CRS 26 in Toulouse Lardenne. This ceremony was chaired by Mr. the Prefect of the Occitanie and Haute-Garonne region Pierre André Durand, accompanied by Mr. Police Commissioner Nicolas Benderitter, Chief of Staff of the South Zonal Directorate and in the presence of numerous civil, judicial and military figures. It was after the Second World War that the provisional government of General De Gaulle, by decree dated December 8, 1944, created the Republican Security Companies. It was then important for the country to have mobile forces of a civilian nature responsible for maintaining and reestablishing republican order. This event was also an opportunity to bring together the unit's personnel as well as around 80 of its retirees. After laying a wreath in tribute to the dead in front of the stele of Commander Joël Le Goff, the Prefect presented medals to officials of the CRS 26: medal for acts of courage and dedication, medal for internal security , and National Police Medal of Honor. The commander of CRS 26 Christophe Duffo listed at length the results of the missions accomplished during this year by the company, with more than 200 days of travel. This commemoration highlighted the essential role of the CRS in protecting citizens and maintaining public order, while honoring their rich history and their constant contribution to national security as highlighted by the prefect. It was a wonderful anniversary for the Republican Security Companies, may they continue to let their motto resonate: “Serve”!
