A native of Anjou, Sophie Péan was immersed in the world of culture from a very young age. His grandfather, Yvon Péan, was a dialect poet. His grandmother gave him a taste for theater, opera, heritage, castles and even exhibitions very early on. She has always retained this taste for artistic creation. “Quickly, I realized that Art exhibitions received largely the same artists every year. For comfort, because cultural associations are made up of people who are generally elderly and distant from digital technology, because the artists themselves are far from these networks and that takes time… In any case, there is no no real rotation. Today, within a 20km radius, creators only know each other to the extent of 15%. she explains.
Create bridges
This is why she put online, about a month ago, the cultural platform A Cap'Art which connects artists with places of culture for performing arts, exhibitions, creators and craftsmen… “On the one hand, a directory references these places of culture, which allows artists to know directly who to call and save time. On the other hand, artists can make themselves known and everyone can exchange ideas to create events », Develops Sophie Péan. This online application allows you to go even further by offering an agenda of current and upcoming events, and allows you to find places and artists encountered during events. “The idea is really to allow artists to continue to live and practice beyond events. When a community holds a festival or an exhibition, what happens to these artists once it is over? Behind all of this, I also want to allow the sector to become more autonomous and professional so that artists are no longer seen as simple troubadours who are used occasionally to create entertainment. I wanted to think of a virtuous system so that culture is open to everyone and so that it is not just something that “costs a crazy amount of money” and which only survives on subsidies. »
A project presented to the Ministry of Culture
Its application is open to venues and artists nationwide (DOM TOM included) and is intended to be adaptable and scalable based on feedback and real needs. To appear on this cultural platform, artists must subscribe for 100 euros per year, companies for 200 euros per year and venues for 300 euros per year per room. Sophie Péan firmly believes in her project, which she has been developing for 3 years now. She will even defend it this Thursday before the Ministry of Culture. She will notably meet Delphine Christophe, deputy chief of staff, in charge of social dialogue and territories, in the office of the Minister of Culture. “I am expecting from this meeting and from the Ministry a helping hand to launch this project which I think is essential and indispensable for Culture.
