Announced by the Government in June 2023 and launched at the beginning of 2024, Villages d'avenir is a program aimed at municipalities with less than 3,500 inhabitants. Led by the ANCT as part of the France ruralités plan, it aims to support the smallest municipalities in carrying out their development projects. The Villages d'Avenir program is one of the 4 major axes of France Ruralités, a national program supported by the State to support rural areas. Its objective is therefore to closely support rural municipalities in their projects, thanks to local engineering support to: Design and carry out their development projects; Integrate territorial cohesion issues; Promote the ecological transition. Municipalities have benefited from support since last January for a period of 12 to 18 months. They will be supported for any type of structuring project meeting the daily needs of residents or bringing a new dynamic to the municipality: new and local service project, rehabilitation/enhancement of structuring buildings, redevelopment of the town center or a village square. , cultural or tourist project, new global vision of road safety within the village, development of a business or multi-service point… In Maine-et-Loire, 18 municipalities have already been labeled Villages of the Future including Le Puy-Notre-Dame, Varennes-sur-Loire, Villebernier, Courléon, Neuillé, Vernoil-le-Fourrier, Dénezé-sous-Doué, Tuffalun, Louresse-Rochemenier, and even la Ménitré. On Wednesday, December 4, the Association of Rural Mayors of Maine-et-Loire and state services brought together the rural mayors of the department in Thorigné-d'Anjou on the occasion of the Villages of the Future Meetings. This day of discussions and work took place in the presence of Philippe Chopin, Prefect of Maine-et-Loire, and Gilles Talluau, President of the Association of Rural Mayors of the department and mayor of Varennes-sur-Loire and Christophe Carol, sub-prefect of Saumur and Villages d’Avenir representative.
