The Changé Christmas market, today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Place de la Mairie, presents itself with new features: an extension in the number of exhibitors, more Changéan exhibitors and a more assertive Christmas spirit. Interview with Viviane Benyakhou, deputy mayor in charge of entertainment.
“Le Maine Libre”: What about the requests?
Viviane Benyakhou : “We received 45 requests examined in committee. This strong demand can be explained by the fact that Christmas markets had been canceled in 2023 due to weather conditions and Changé had maintained its own. So, it was decided to expand the capacity of the indoor and outdoor locations from 24 to 30. There will be exhibitors on the traditional market, four food trucks all day, the sale of acras by the Labako association… Prioritizing Changéan exhibitors was also a desire. The commission was careful to have a wide variety of stands: between Christmas decorations, jewelry, sewing, soap, honey, sausages… The town offered artificial trees to merchants in the town center which will be put online with Un jour un sapin . »
And the others?
“We wanted to reinforce what we call the Christmas spirit with the sale of chocolate and mulled wine. The football club responded to our wish. A CM1 class will be in the Coluche room. The parents' association will have a stand to raise funds for projects. »
What will the shows be?
“A free children’s show is planned at 4 p.m. with Tour Live Production. Santa Claus will be performing. At the end, photos can be taken. At 6 p.m., a free concert will take place with Gospel Harmony Voice at Saint-Martin Church. »
On the side of illuminations?
“The recycling center roundabout will be illuminated. It will be (since yesterday) launched the illuminations on December 6 by the youth municipal council which is centered in the town center. It was favored subjects on the ground. They will be placed on public lighting until January 8. »
In case of bad weather?
“The Rabelais center has been reserved if the Christmas market were to be withdrawn. The decision taken on Thursday 5 will be announced on the municipality's networks and panels, in the event of a change. »
