The match ended on penalties but the game is not over. The 8e round of the Coupe de France which saw the elimination of FC Marmande (R2) against the National 3 club of Vierzon FC (2-2, 3 tab 5) this Saturday, November 30 could experience a very different outcome. Neither more nor less than the qualification, on the green carpet, of the Marmandais for a historic 32e of final.
The information had not filtered but the X account (ex-Twitter) “Surtapisvert” revealed it this Thursday, December 5: the Cher club is under investigation by the FFF. Our colleagues from “Ouest France” indicate, this Friday, December 6, that the opponent designated for this new round, the club Le Mans FC (National) confirmed the information published on social networks.
Possibility of appeal
Contacted by “Sud Ouest”, the president of FC Marmande Lyazid Bahlali indicates that he is “aware of a procedure concerning the Vierzon club” but without knowing its content. However, the FFF legal commission has taken up the matter and is investigating a “suspicion of license fraud” by a Vierzon player who took part in the November 30 meeting.
The Federation's decision should come “at the end of this week or next week”. But the procedure could not end there, the Cher club having the possibility of appealing. If the elimination of Vierzon FC is confirmed, FC Marmande would therefore receive Le Mans FC for an unprecedented 32e final, a meeting scheduled for Sunday, December 22, at 5:30 p.m.
