The Trophée des Grimpeurs becomes an organizing club
This is the main change in this 11th edition of the Trophée des Grimpeurs. The management team working under the direction of Gérard Cabantous becomes an organizing club, under the name Trophée des Grimpeurs Organization.
“We created our own structure, confirms the head of the TGO. We wanted to be independent, no longer dependent on clubs. Today, we have experience, competent people, we know how it works. We are capable of “organize the races ourselves without going through the clubs. We affiliated with the FFC (French Cycling federation) and Ufolep.”
A club only organizer. “We don’t want to have runners, we have enough to do with our races,” explains Gérard Cabantous.
Two new races and two that disappear
Thirteen timed climbs will be organized next year by the new TGO, the same number as this year. However, there will be something new since two races are appearing on the calendar and two others will no longer be organized.
The climb of Gergovie, starting from Pérignat-lès-Sarliève, becomes a round again after having been launched a few years ago by the XC63 club, which no longer organized it. It is this event which will open the time trial season, on Saturday May 17.
A second new event will take place at the start of summer (June 29) in Combrailles, between Châteauneuf-les-Bains and Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne.
On the other hand, the climb of Berzet, from Ceyrat to Puy de la Vache, which was until then the oldest Auvergne time trial, will no longer be organized in 2025, as will the climb of the Col of Béal.
Two Trophies… in the Climbers Trophy!
The Trophée des Grimpeurs will be split into two challenges next season. The organization responded favorably to a request from the Puy-de-Dôme departmental council by creating a new challenge which will be called Trophée des Grimpeurs Puy-de-Dôme my department.
A ranking will be established by accumulating the points scored in the nine races taking place in the “63” and the rewards will be awarded during the climb of Puy de Dôme, still on the program and even support of the final on Saturday September 13 2025.
The other challenge, bringing together the races of Cantal and Haute-Loire (two per department), will simply be called Trophée des Grimpeurs Goodicom 15 – 43, Goodicom being the main sponsor of the TGO.
Its final will take place on September 20, 2025 in Lavoûte-Chilhac (Haute-Loire), which will host, as every year, the last event on the calendar.
