Woman seriously injured after window falls at college

Classes were canceled Monday December 2 at Joliot-Curie. All staff at this college in (Seine-Saint-Denis) exercised their right of withdrawal after the serious injury suffered by a secretary of the establishment. The incident reportedly took place Monday morning. A window fell on the head of the college's management secretary “inflicting serious injuries requiring emergency treatment in the trauma department at the hospital”, reported the Snes-FSU union of Seine-Saint- Denis.

According to the union, the same model of tilt-and-turn window equips all of the rooms on the ground floor. One would even be amazed. “How much longer will students, staff and users remain in danger before being heard? », questions the union in its press release, which recalls that “this is not the first comeback”. All the educational establishments in Seine-Saint-Denis are calling for an emergency plan due to “among other things, the dilapidation of the school buildings”.

In a press release, the Seine-Saint-Denis department specifies that an assessment will be carried out “to understand the causes of this accident”. In the meantime and as a precaution, the windows of the same model have all been locked and can no longer be opened. In October, a ceiling collapsed while students were in class. An audit pointed to overbilling and poor workmanship in the maintenance of the department's colleges.
