Trash collection follows the dealers' schedules in this Oise town

Since last summer, the trash collection adapts to the release times of drug dealers, in several neighborhoods of Compiègnein the Oise.

An experiment was thus carried out in the Écharde, Clos des Roses, Musiciens and Square du Vivier Corax districts.

It aimed to bring forward the household waste collection times in order to be able to bring in the trash “before the arrival of persons who may disturb public order”we learn in the deliberation of the Compiègne urban council (ARC).

Trash is now collected in the morning

On November 14, the ARC approved the continuation of the modification of these collective trash collection times after a test deemed “ conclusive ». Until June 30, 2026the bins will be collected from 9 a.m. and until 1 p.m. in the neighborhoods concerned.

Previously, they were collected in the afternoon, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This could coincide with the exit times of lookouts or dealers, in neighborhoods where drug trafficking is widespread, who could use the containers to block the streets and slow down law enforcement patrols or be set on fire.

“Now everything is clean”

Contacted by Oise newsthe mayor (LR) of Compiègne and president of the ARC, Philippe Mariniexplains that “we must not leave equipment that can be used for bad purposesin the same way that you should not leave a deposit of paving stones in the open air.”

Since the building caretakers could not bring in the bins after waste collection in the afternoon, we changed the tour times to the morning. And now everything is clean.

The mayor of Compiègne, who recently asked the Minister of the Interior for more resources to fight against urban rodeos in his city, explains that leaving these empty trash cans in public spaces could become “dangerous”.

After this extension approved until the summer of 2026, the president of the Compiègne metropolitan area intends to make this modification “permanent”. Until this deadline, the extension of these modifications will have a cost of 43,862.50 euros excluding tax for the community.
