SENEGAL-SOCIAL / Kédougou: the State of Senegal invited to decentralize the equal opportunities card – Senegalese press agency

Kédougou, Dec 3 (APS) – The Regional Union of Associations of People with Disabilities of Kédougou (south-east), through its interim president, on Tuesday invited the Senegalese government to further decentralize the health card. equality of opportunity, in order to reach all its potential beneficiaries.

“We want the State of Senegal to decentralize the equal opportunities card in all regions, to allow the vast majority of people with disabilities to benefit from it,” argued Bangaly Dioula Ba.

He was speaking during the celebration of International Disability Day, chaired by the governor of Kédougou.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the regional director of health and social action and the president of the Senegalese Federation of Associations of Disabled People.

The president of the Regional Union of Associations of People with Disabilities of Kédougou invited the government of Senegal to fully apply the social orientation law.

He judges that it is “crucial to guarantee the integration of people living with disabilities in all aspects of social and economic life in Senegal”.

He advocated for the systematization of the benefits of the equal opportunities card, such as training and recruitment of people with disabilities in the civil service and mining and local companies.

He praised the State’s laudable initiatives in favor of people living with disabilities.

“We welcome the efforts of the State of Senegal in terms of social policy,” he said, citing the equal opportunities card, universal health coverage and the sesame plan.

He also mentioned the decentralization of medical care which, according to him, “must be expanded”, especially for people suffering from leprosy in the Fadiga district, in the commune of Kédougou.

The governor of the Kédougou region, Mariama Traoré, magnified the theme of this day.

“It is important to note the relevance of this theme which reflects a desire to create the conditions for better participation of people living with disabilities in the life of the nation,” she said.

She specifies that “this theme highlights the crucial role of innovation and technology in creating adapted solutions for a fairer society accessible to all”.

Mariama Traoré congratulated the members of the national and regional steering committee for the efforts made for the success of this International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the Kédougou region.
