the police repress high school students mobilized after the suicide of a student

This Tuesday, December 3 in the morning, many high school students from several establishments in mobilized to protest against academic pressure and increasingly catastrophic study conditions. An ever-increasing pressure which even led to the suicide of a high school student. The mobilization began at Charlemagne high school where nearly 70 high school students organized a blockade of the establishment. Slogans such as “Academic pressure, no one tolerates it! ». The latter was particularly highlighted by the success of the petition against the 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. schedule by SenseiMots, one of the only initiatives that denounces this infernal rhythm.

The mobilization was violently repressed by the police. CRS blocked the streets around the Charlemagne high school, breaking up the blockade in order to prevent more high school students from joining it, then charging at the high school students and beating them. A high school student was even strangled by one of them.

The high school students then managed to move away and join other mobilized high school students from neighboring establishments by gathering with more than a hundred of them next to the Victor Hugo high school. And once again, the CRS rushed to repress them with tear gas and new charges. In addition, law enforcement forces arrested 5 high school students who are currently in custody at the third district police station. While high school students denounce the impact of repressive and educational policies on the mental health of many of them, the government tries to silence this voice and prevent their mobilization with an iron fist.

This repression follows the authoritarian and repressive rhetoric of the government which wants to discipline youth with high school students in its sights. SNU, uniform, forced boarding school, the government's goal is to shape like good soldiers standing at attention. However, thousands of people have signed the petition and no longer want to be subjected to this pressure. “I feel like I’m wasting my life”denounced a high school student at the Poing Levé microphone last February. High school students do not have to accept these study conditions. The current political crisis, which places the government in a weak situation, offers us an opportunity to impose another school: to demand a reduction in the academic pace, but also to demand the end of selection for entry into university, the repeal of Parcoursup and abandonment of the clash of knowledge. A project that would no longer meet the needs of big business and the ruling caste, but those of students and the rest of society, ensuring the well-being of all.
