Accountability and economic patriotism: Ousmane Sonko displays his priorities

The Senegalese Prime Minister, reappointed as head of the executive – a government slightly reshuffled, but constituted, as the previous one, of 30 ministers – delivered a few words to the press on Monday, December 2. A short speech, but which conveys the priorities he intends to set for his government, SO that the duo, at the head of Senegal for more than eight months, now has of qualified majority in the National Assembly.

Ousmane Sonko particularly insisted on his desire to “accelerate the accountability process”, targeting – without naming him – former president Macky Sall, whom he accused, on several occasions, significant budgetary slippages during the previous mandate.

Evoking in turn the struggle against the cost of living, investments in the health and education sectors, il has (re)set the course of the policy that it now intends to pursue, with, at the top of its list of its stated priorities, the adoption of the “law on economic sovereignty, based on the principle of patriotism ».
