Union elections: more than 22,000 employees affected in Aveyron

the essential
Since Monday, November 25 and until December 9, employees of Very Small Businesses (VSE) and home-based employees will elect their union representatives, to advise them, represent them, defend them at the industrial tribunal… A major challenge .

In Aveyron, there are more than 22,000 employees, spread across 4,000 very small businesses (VSE), affected by the union elections. Since 2012, every four years, two weeks have been allocated to these elections. The challenge for employees: designate those who will represent them, defend them at the industrial tribunal… Employees of companies with fewer than 11 employees, from 16 years old and whatever their nationality, are called to vote, from November 25 to 9 December 2024.

A declining participation rate

recorded a participation of 7.63% in 2016, and 5.68% in 2021. A decreasing rate, and yet. This election “has concrete consequences on their professional life, their remuneration, their working conditions, their development and the end of their career”writes Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, the Minister of Labor and Employment.

“These are not elections that work. We have difficulty getting employees to vote. Often, they are not informed”explains Quentin Leyrat, the co-pilot of the TPE election campaign in Aveyron of the CGT departmental Union. At the national level, a toll-free number was set up this year, “so that we make ourselves available to those who are unable to vote”. Also, it is now possible to vote with FranceConnect. “That's a plus, the identifier and confidential code received by mail were a hindrance. People lost the paper, put it in the trash, and didn't know what they had done with it.” The results of these elections, which determine union representation in very small businesses, will be announced on December 19.
