Friday November 29, at Poiré-sur-Vie, the company Fournier Framesspecialized in the manufacture of glued laminated timber frames, inaugurated an important step in the construction of its future factory Cambium, that of the completion of its wooden frame.
Ce future production site wants to be exemplary in environmental and social terms. “Despite particular weather conditions this year, we managed to stick to the schedule,” underlined Sébastien Viala, general director of Charpentes Fournier, during this ridge bouquet, a traditional ceremony in the world of construction. A bouquet that was created in just eight weeks, requiring 17 exceptional convoys to transport 57 beams 35 meters longtotaling more than 1,700 m³ of wood.
Around twenty jobs created and production capacity doubled
The future Cambium factory, with surface area of 25,000 m²will be distinguished “by its environmentally friendly approach and his attention to quality of life at work“. It will integrate cutting-edge technologies. A new automatic bending press and state-of-the-art machining centers will optimize employee comfort and safety while doubling production capacity.
This project also provides for the creation of around twenty jobsbringing the total number of employees to nearly 70.
Les Charpentes Fournier is a subsidiary of Soprem groupa, a company founded in 1908 in Strasbourg and recognized for its sustainable solutions in the field of construction. The Cambium factory will be an illustration of the group's know-how. It will integrate wooden and concrete elements, with photovoltaic roof terraces to ensure self-consumption of electricity. “The right material in the right place” is the guideline that guides the choices made in the design of the factory, as Sébastien Viala affirmed.
Moving at the end of 2025
All this know-how could count on the local dynamism. The factory was in fact built with the help of many local businesses*just like the architecture of the building which was designed by the Vendée agency Pelleau & Associés Architectes. This choice of proximity is a fundamental criterion for the managers of Charpentes Fournier, who are committed to promoting short circuits and the regional economy.
The project continues with the delivery of the covered enclosure by the end of this year. The second work will be completed in spring 2025 for a total move by the end of 2025.
