It's a daily battle. In French prisons, prison staff strive every day to limit the entry of prohibited products into detention. But every day, phones, cannabis, knives, cocaine and other products pass through the thick walls of remand centers. In Brest (Finistère), supervisors were particularly surprised to see a package left on the window sill of one of their offices on Saturday. The reason? An error in the delivery person's address.
According to West Francethe package had been left by mistake by the pilot of a drone, who was undoubtedly trying to deliver a neighboring cell. Inside, prison officers discovered cannabis resin, three phones, headphones and phone chargers. The guards knocked on the door of the neighboring cell to find that the inmate had more than 100 grams of cannabis, weed and a grappling hook made to recover this type of package.
Mother of detainee also intercepted
According to our colleagues at West Franceseveral other deliveries of narcotics were intercepted on the same day, including several dropped by a drone on the roof of the infirmary. Inside, packages containing several hundred grams of cannabis resin and telephones were intercepted. During the visiting rooms, a mother was also arrested for trying to provide hash to her son whom she came to see in prison.
Nearly 80% of French prisoners have already consumed a psychoactive substance, including tobacco, at least once during their detention, according to a survey carried out by the French Observatory on Drugs and Addictive Tendencies (OFDT).
