The Foutu Cancer association is playing extra time for Pink October and continues its events until December 6. But after two months of activities, the time has come to take stock and they are good.
Many events were organized in Nièvre for Pink October. Behind them, Florence Vard. For several years, she has worked to organize awareness-raising operations and workshops against breast cancer with her association Foutu Cancer.
This year, 65 events took place in the Pink October edition.
“We have so far raised €27,000. It's a little less than last year, but we still have two events?! », says enthusiastic Florence Vard.
In fact, the actions benefiting Foutu Cancer were more numerous, but less lucrative. This is in no way a problem for the president of the association.
premium Prevention awareness at all ages
“We have small communities that had done nothing in previous years that have mobilized. It's great. They sow seeds for future years. “We’re sad, we only made €100 or €200”, that’s what I heard. But it doesn't matter, the idea is to talk about the cause. “There were only 50 of us”, but that’s already huge,” comments Florence Vard.
This year, the demonstrations were smaller, therefore explaining the difference with the €30,000 received in 2023.
Sometimes there were three on the same day. It's normal to have less income.
Foutu Cancer 58 was also invited to the middle and high schools of Nièvre. “Thanks to the self-examination bust, we have generated more interest. This makes it possible to give meaning and concreteness during awareness workshops. »
What will the money raised be used for?
A trip will be organized for several sick women followed by the association. “Like in the movie, the Hikersthey are going to go to the mountains. It will be in Chamonix with a high mountain guide. They're going to go for a walk, but it won't be a vacation. The rest of the money will be used to enable women who cannot afford a hair prosthesis and the products that go with it to obtain one,” proudly reports Florence Vard. For her, “this money is there to create connections”.
premium The National Federation of Radiologists carried out a study on the obstacles to screening in four cities including Nevers
An evening to present the project will take place on December 6 at the Challuy village hall at 7:15 p.m. “It will allow us to thank the partners. »
Florence Vard is pleased to see that breast cancer awareness “is being taken more and more seriously. More and more people are aware. Now, there remains access to care which is a problem. Identifying a problem yourself is one thing, being able to consult is another… »
