In NovemberSOS Docteurs has changed its mind on a national level. THE doctor Philippe Paranque became national president of the structure. He succeeds Jean-Christophe Masseronelected in 2020 and originally from Cherbourg. He wished turn the page.
“In a particularly difficult moment for our profession, with issues that require constant monitoring and commitment to the service of our doctors, I considered that change was needed at the head of our great federation, to be able to continue the projects and defend our specificities with health authorities. »
A tense general meeting at the beginning of October
At the beginning of October, the general assembly of SOS Médecins, organized in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche), was tense. In Cotentin, last year, visits, the primary vocation of SOS, represented only 8% of activity. The figure reflects unease, at a time when the supervisory authorities are praising home care. The model is no longer viable and has been reduced locally to evenings and weekends. The other subject of tension at SOS Médecins is its place in the healthcare access service (SAS) system, unscheduled care. Because calling the regulation or directly SOS Médecins results in an identical act… for a different price, to the detriment of SOS Médecins. Two subjects that Doctor Paranque wishes to see progress.
In Cotentin, it was Fréderic Bastian, co-founder of the Cherbourg branch, who was the first to join Jean-Christophe in joining the structure. He was then practicing locally in a cabinet. He had trouble finding his way around. Certain aspects of general medicine frustrated him. Frédéric Bastian told him that one day, he would return to general medicine, but by doing “SOS”. He joined SOS Médecins in 2014, working in Chambéry. Even if he is no longer the national president, he of course remains a caregiver within the structure.
